Blackcomb Gondola to spin Monday morning, April 24; upload to start 30 minutes earlier for the rest of the season

Blackcomb Mountain remains open for skiing until May 22.

Skiers and riders at Whistler Blackcomb (WB) will have an extra upload option on the morning of Monday, April 24.

“It’s been a snowy start to spring, and we have another weather system that is anticipated to bring more snow through Monday. With this in mind, our lift maintenance team will keep Blackcomb Gondola spinning from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Monday, April 24 to ensure we keep things moving through the incoming weather,” WB said in a social media post on Sunday.

Hours of operation are also being adjusted to start 30 minutes earlier through to the end of the season, the mountain operator said, meaning Excalibur Gondola will open at 9:30 a.m., seven days a week, and Blackcomb Gondola will open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

“As always, there are factors that can impact operations, making these hours conditions dependent, and we'll keep you updated through what is always a dynamic spring season,” the post read.

Blackcomb Gondola is not running on weekdays this spring—a development that led to frustration for guests and an apology from Whistler Blackcomb—while it undergoes maintenance.
