Whistler’s Kathy White wants to foster connection across generations.
“It’s a goal of mine to host intergenerational conversation and learn from each other and still have a wonderful lifestyle in Whistler, no matter the age,” she said.
A local realtor and former chair of Whistler’s Mature Action Community, White is organizing a series of talks at the local library aimed at fostering conversation around life planning and resiliency. First up on Saturday, Jan. 25 is 360 Life Plan, which welcomes guest speakers Deborah Brakeley, a clinical counsellor who specializes in collaborative divorce coaching and self-care, and Dr. Scott Resnick, a medical doctor who will discuss how to think differently with functional medicine.
White stressed the event is open to all and urged Whistlerites of all ages to consider their plan as they move through what she called “the runway of life."
“The 360 Life Plan came about because everyone, no matter what their age, should be planning ahead. In Whistler, there are a lot of seniors who don’t classify themselves as seniors, and a lot of young people who do high-risk sports. Your life can change in a day, so how do you plan ahead?” she said. “This theme of health and wellness for January 2025 is related to taking care of our bodies and our self-care to take us into the future.”
White said she’s planning four different sessions this year fitting that theme. Future events, with dates to be confirmed, will focus on property renovation so people can stay in their Whistler homes longer as they age; wills, estates and life insurance; and life and career resiliency, paired with travel tips.
White, a realtor with Engel & Völkers, said, along with sparking important conversations around life planning, the events are also a means for her to connect with her real estate clients in different ways.
360 Life Plan runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Whistler Public Library’s Community Room. Refreshments will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required. Contact White at [email protected] or 604-616-6933 to register and for further details.
