A truck stolen this week from a residential neighbourhood in Whistler was recovered in Squamish within 20 minutes of first being reported, police said in a release.

At about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, police were tipped off to a Ford F-150 believed to be stolen sometime within the past six hours from the 1200 block of Mount Fee Road in Cheakamus Crossing.

The owner provided police with the GPS location of the vehicle through an app, which tracked the truck to the 38000 block of 6th Avenue in Squamish. Whistler RCMP relayed the message to the Squamish RCMP, which quickly located the unoccupied vehicle.
The truck was removed from the scene and held for a forensic identification, police said.

On the same day, at about 8:30 a.m., Whistler police responded to a second report of a stolen vehicle, this time from the 4500 block of Blackcomb Way in the village.

Officers attended the scene and located the vehicle, which was locked and secure.

As it turns out, the owner had forgotten where they had parked the vehicle the night before, police said.
