Fall is the perfect time to settle into comfortable tables and fill your plate with delicious meals during Whistler’s prix fixe.
Toptable Group of restaurants, which includes Araxi, Il Caminetto and Bar Oso, has multi-course meals for prices unheard of during other times of the year in celebration of the time the group has spent in Whistler. The festivities kick off Sunday, Sept. 15 at Araxi and Il Caminetto, and Bar Oso begins its offers one week later, Sept. 22.
James Walt, culinary director for Araxi, said in a press release prix fixe is an offer of love to Whistler.
"We have created our fall prix fixe menu as a way to express our love and appreciation for the community. We are eager to give back to our local guests, who have supported us tremendously over the past 43 years,” he said.
“We are honoured to have served them for so long and we want to express our gratitude through this special offering. Our guests can anticipate a night of hospitality excellence in Whistler."
Playing on the 43-year theme, Araxi presents a $43, four-course menu seven days a week.
The restaurant is known for its farm-to-table delights, and guests expect the menu to change weekly. The first week’s menu includes Chilliwack corn soup, and a wide ranging second course that spans from foie gras parfait to heirloom tomato salad. Mains cover seafood, beef, pasta and risotto, and the dinner ends with five selections of dessert.
Il caminetto also has four-courses for $43, and Mark McLoughlin, executive chef for the haunt, merges “seasonal flavours and local produce” with Italian flair.
The weekly menu kicks off with four cichetti, or small snack offerings, including chickpea hummus and polpettine. The antipasti course covers salads, carpaccio, risotto and more. To finish, the traditional Italian desserts on offer range from tiramisu to gelato.
If Spanish tapas are more your taste, Bar Oso’s weekly three-course menu from Jorge Muñoz Santos, executive chef, will take you on a tour of his heritage.
The menu runs from Sunday to Thursday and the first week’s menu’s features tapas which include gazpacho and a beet ensalada, the main is a paella and dessert is Basque cheesecake.
