If you see smoke floating up from Blackcomb Mountain's slopes this month, don't worry—it's most likely not a (very) late-season wildfire.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) issued a burn notice on Monday, Oct. 31 informing residents about a planned debris burning project that is scheduled to take place on Blackcomb throughout the month.

In a tweet, the RMOW said burning was set to begin on the last day of October and will run through November.

The project will take place near the mountain's Main Junction, Crystal Ridge and Excelerator chairlift bases, the municipality explained, as well as an adjacent area approximately one-kilometre along Blackcomb's Ascent Trail.

Whistler Blackcomb remains closed to sightseers until the resort reopens for the winter season later this month. Opening day is planned for Thursday, Nov. 24.
