Parts of the One Mile Lake boardwalk in Pemberton will remain closed for the time being. Recent flooding caused “significant damage” to the popular amenity, according to the Village of Pemberton (VOP).

The VOP posted a heavy rainfall warning and closed the boardwalk around One Mile Lake on Jan. 29.

In a post on its Facebook page, the VOP asked locals to respect the partial closure.

“For safety of all community members and park users, please respect this closure and on-site signage,” they wrote.

“The Village of Pemberton crews are working very hard to assess the damage and repair work required to open. Stay tuned for updates.”

It was a hectic week in Pemberton, as several days of heavy rain pushed river levels past the brink, leading to evacuation orders and alerts, and causing significant damage to land and property.

In typical Pemberton fashion, several businesses and locals stepped up to help in the community's time of need.
