RMOW announces $152K in Community Enrichment Grants to local organizations

RMOW will also award $1K grants to six Whistler Secondary School grads next month

At the April 26 council meeting, Whistler officials approved more than $150,000 worth of Community Enrichment Program (CEP) grants to 34 local organizations.

Coming from general revenue, the RMOW’s annual grant program this year handed out $151,800 to a total of 37 initiatives run by local non-profits and societies. The amount provided to each organization cannot be more than half of a program’s total costs.

The list of grants awarded are as follows:

  2. Howe Sound Women’s Centre - PEACE ($8,000)
  3. Howe Sound Women’s Centre - Whistler Women's Centre - Drop-in ($13,000)
  4. Pathways Serious Mental Illness Society ($5,000)
  5. Sea to Sky Community Services Society - Better at Home ($4,500)
  6. Sea to Sky Community Services Society - Whistler Playgroup  ($5,000)
  7. Whistler Community Services Society - Counselling Assistance Program ($14,000)
  8. Whistler Institute of Learning Society ($2,500)
  9. Whistler Mature Action Community ($2,000)
  10. Whistler Multicultural Society - Multicultural Community Kitchen ($6,273.78)
  11. Whistler Multicultural Society - Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network ($3,000)
  12. Zero Ceiling Society of Canada ($6,000)
  13. Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment (AWARE) ($3,000)
  14. Whistler Farmer's Market – partnership with AWARE ($3,000)
  15. Whistler Naturalists Society ($3,276)
  16. BC Luge Association ($2,000)
  17. Sea to Sky Nordics ($3,000)
  18. Whistler Adaptive Sports Program ($7,000)

As part of the program, the municipality also awards $1,000 scholarships to six members of Whistler Secondary School’s graduating class. The school’s Scholarship Committee will provide a list of recommendations before council finalizes its selection in June.
