Photos: Fun with fungi at Whistler's Fungus Among Us

Some of the amazing shots from the 22nd annual mushroom festival, which ran Oct. 18-19

If you happened to miss this year's Fungus Among Us festival—and with torrential downpours and a provincial election, there was certainly lots going on last weekend—fear not, fungi fanatics: the good folks at the Whistler Nautralists have got you covered.

Organized by the Naturalists, the annual celebration of all things mushroom returned for its 22nd edition Oct. 18 and 19, featuring nature walks, expert talks by leading mycologists, and even a mushroom-themed lunch. As in recent years past, there was also a photography contest that asked locals to submit their best fungal photos from around the Sea to Sky. We've included the winning shot from each category: people and fungi, spore-tacular shots, gill-ty pleasures and shrooms with a view, as well as a handful of other images from the event's two days. Congrats to the winners Magali Lalonde-Legault, Olivia Rodig, Karen Alvarez, and Robert McCammant.

At least 150 fungi species were identified at this year's event. These records will be added to the Whistler Biodiversity Project list, which now totals over 1,000 local species, according to the Naturalists.

Until next year!
