Fifty centimetres within 24 hours—on top of a parched season for good pow—was enough to attract massive crowds, no matter the road conditions, on Wednesday, Feb. 28, with hundreds of skiers and snowboarders waiting to get up Whistler Blackcomb by 7:30 a.m., and dozens more arriving every minute.
It has been a mild season so far, which explains the rabid excitement about a late February dump.
Snowy conditions are expected to continue well into Feb. 29, and a winter storm warning is in effect.
