Photos: Anderson Lake fire now more than 2,000 hectares

Evacuation order remains in effect

A fire on the shores of Anderson and Seton lakes northeast of Whistler and Pemberton has grown to more than 2,000 hectares, according to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

Twenty-three BCWS personnel are reportedly on scene today, along with multiple helicopters providing bucketing support.

An evacuation order remains in place for several properties in the area.

The order applies to about 200 parcels within SLRD Area B, which is a mix of residential and recreational properties. (Not all parcels contain structures.)

Residents under the evacuation order are asked to register with Emergency Social Services at the Lillooet Rec Centre at 930 Main Street, or by phoning 250-256-8524.

As accomodation in the area is limited, residents are asked to make arrangements where possibly to stay with the friends or family. Assistance with accomodation is available through Emergency Social Services, as is help for those with animal care needs. Residents needing transportation assistance from the area can contact the SLRD on-call duty manager at 604-698-9812.

The public is reminded to sign up for SLRD Alert to receive emergency notifications and updates at slrd.bc.ca/slrdalert
