The Pemberton Project is bringing its classic rock bonafides to the Pemho Pub on Saturday, March 15—starting at 9 p.m. and playing through to 1 a.m. on March 16.

“Seize your place among the revellers and bear witness to a night of legendary proportions,” reads the event invite.

The band first got together in the pandemic. It started out with guitarist John Rekrut (better known as JR) getting back into guitar. He was slowly joined by other local artists—Clive English on guitar, Mark Bannock on drums and Cookie Low on bass.

The band’s sweet spot has been “three chords and the truth,” straight-up rock ’n’ roll, JR previously told Pique. Their repertoire ranges from Tom Petty to The Beatles, Warren Zevon to The Band.

“It’s pretty classic,” said JR. “I don’t want to call it retirement rock … It’s anything with a straight-ahead driving beat and a story behind it. I rely on the guys behind me to bring the musicality, and I craft the words.”

A limited number of $10 (plus tax) early bird tickets to see The Pemberton Project are available on the Pemho website. General admission tickets cost $15, plus tax.
