Pemberton Fire Rescue is conducting an evacuation exercise in the Tiyata neighbourhood on Wednesday, July 17. It will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.
The planned exercise will give firefighters a realistic scenario to enhance their preparedness and response capabilities. The Village of Pemberton (VOP) is reminding people this is just a test run, and there will be a significant fire department presence in the neighbourhood during the trial evacuation.
In a Facebook post, the VOP urged local families to sign up to PembertonAlert! to receive important notifications during emergencies. People can also learn how to best prepare for a wildfire on the province’s webpage.
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to keep our community safe!,” the VOP posted on Facebook.
