The Village of Pemberton (VOP) is reminding residents about new winter parking restrictions aimed at bolstering road safety and snow removal.
Under the newly updated bylaw, winter parking restrictions will apply 24 hours a day on the even-numbered side of streets, replacing the previous overnight-only enforcement between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. The restrictions will be in effect annually from Nov. 15 to March 31.
The parking bylaw amendment was passed at the VOP's Dec. 10 council meeting. The Village said the expanded regulations will reduce obstructions for snow removal crews and ensure roadways remain open and accessible for residents, emergency vehicles and essential services.
Trailers are also subject to the restrictions, except where traffic control devices permit. The Village has also asked residents to remove other obstructions from the road, including sport and play equipment.
The restrictions will lift on March 31, the same day the Sea to Sky highway becomes open to travellers without winter tires on their vehicles.
