Fifty-four new owners have taken possession of employee-restricted units at 1360 Mount Fee Road in Cheakamus Crossing.

The latest Whistler Housing Authority (WHA) project has officially opened, with owners taking possession of their employee-restricted apartments in Cheakamus Crossing.

Over the past two months, 54 new owners have moved into units at 1360 Mount Fee Road, one of two next-door properties in the southerly neighbourhood that have recently welcomed occupants. The other, 1340 Mount Fee Road, saw owners take possession in September.

Developed by the Whistler 2020 Development Corporation (WDC), the building at 1360 Mount Fee Road housed applicants that were on the WHA ownership waitlist for as long as five years, down to as little as seven months, the WHA said in a Facebook post yesterday.

The two adjacent properties are the first to open under the WDC’s ambitious Phase 2 development plan, which comprises six subdivided lots along an extension of Mount Fee Road. The two properties feature one-, two- and three-bedroom condominiums ranging from 566 square feet in size to 1,046 sq. ft. Prices in the two buildings started at $310,000 for a one-bedroom, and rose up to $535,000 for a three-bedroom. The median price across all 100 units in the properties was $430,000.*

The municipal subsidiary said 162 households were secured for long-term housing in 2022 through the WHA’s employee housing program.
