The legendary Seppo's on Whistler Mountain will undergo a renovation, according to Whistler Blackcomb, but the name won't change.

Calling all Whistler old-timers: Here is your chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of Whistler history.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is auctioning off the legendary Seppo's bar sign, and the auction closes tonight at 7 p.m.

"Whistler Blackcomb and Corona are thrilled to be redesigning and enhancing Seppo’s and the surrounding area of the Roundhouse Lodge," WBF said in an email. "The Seppo’s Bar name and spirit will remain alive within the redesigned space to pay tribute to Seppo Makinen—an important Whistler pioneer. Whistler Blackcomb has generously donated the original, iconic Seppo’s Bar sign to the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation to raise funds for our local communities."

The sign is about 48 by 18 inches, weighs 15 pounds, and is metal with wood backing (but according to the WBF, its value is "priceless").

Local pickup and/or shipping arrangements must be organized by the successful bidder. Shipping costs not included. Photos of Seppo himself are also not included.

A Whistler legend if ever there was one, Seppo Makinen is considered one of the resort's founding figures, having cut the original ski runs on Whistler Mountain in the 1960s.

Locals caused a small social media uproar earlier this year after rumours swirled of the bar's demise, but Whistler Blackcomb confirmed it is not changing the name, only instituting a redesign.
