The Whistler RCMP in October arrested a 71-year-old man accused of exposing himself in Whistler Village.

A 71-year-old man is facing criminal charges after allegedly exposing himself in Whistler Village this fall.

On Oct. 1, 2024, Whistler RCMP said it received two separate reports that a male had exposed himself in a public area of the village. Officers attended the scene and arrested the suspect, Pen-Yuan Yuan Lin. Police said in a statement the accused was not a resident of Whistler at the time of his arrest.

“The Whistler RCMP is thankful that the witnesses who observed this individual in Whistler Village promptly called police, allowing the members to quickly attend and take this individual into custody,” said Cpl. Katrina Boehmer in a release. “Our officers take every call for service seriously, but reports from the public, involving allegations of sexual misconduct, are exceptionally concerning in an environment such as Whistler Village, where there can be many families with children.”

Lin has been charged with committing an indecent act in a public place, and was scheduled for North Vancouver Provincial Court on Wednesday. Feb. 5. He is scheduled to return to court March 5 to fix a date for a hearing or trial.
