AlpX Expeditions (AlpX) and Tyax Adventures are donating $200,000 for complete debris removal on nine properties at Gun Lake.

More than 40 structures burned to the ground when a rare fire tornado formed over the edge of Gun Lake near Gold Bridge, B.C. in the early hours of Aug. 18, 2023. Since then, homeowners say the journey to rebuild their homes has been marred by countless obstacles and senseless red tape.

The much-needed contribution will address the critical need for asbestos removal. This will particularly help uninsured or underinsured property owners who have been struggling to get their lives back on track since the devastating fire.

The presence of asbestos at many of the properties means specialized removal processes are required, making things substantially more expensive for homeowners.

AlpX and Tyax Adventures said in a statement they understand the connections that make Gun Lake special. They stressed their commitment to supporting the community during this trying time.

The McLean Group owns both companies and Blackcomb Helicopters. Its chair, Sacha McLean, said the community is a special place for them.

“By assisting with the debris and asbestos removal, we look forward to alleviating some of the burdens faced by property owners and help them start rebuilding their homes and lives,” he said.
