Police are asking for the public's help in the search for a man who fell into the Fraser River on Sept. 6. Lillooet RCMP said that at 5:15 p.m., a caller reported the incident near the “6 Mile” fishing grounds off Highway 99. The man has been named as Randall Alvis Ned.

Ned is an Indigenous man who is approximately 5-9 in height, weighing 150 pounds. He has a clean-shaven face with grey-coloured hair. He was last seen wearing a green, long-sleeve shirt and blue pants with dark coloured hiking boots.

Lillooet RCMP attended the scene and spoke with witnesses.

“According to witnesses Randall was fishing with a dip net when the current pulled on the dip net and he fell into the water,” said RCMP in a press release. “Lillooet Road Rescue assisted with an aerial drone patrol. Department of Fisheries conducted a water search by boat. Pemberton Search and Rescue attended in a helicopter and conducted a search by water.”

RCMP said three boats were launched for patrols and three swift water teams were engaged. The patrols continued late into the evening but were sadly unfruitful.

“An information bulletin was created and sent to the BC Real Time Intelligence Centre for immediate dissemination for Law Enforcement across the province to be on the lookout,” said RCMP.

The local community has rallied together to help find Randall. The 'Searching for Alvis Ned" Facebook group now has over 1,000 members.
