Pemberton's upcoming trail days, hosted by the PVTA, are one of a number of ways to volunteer in the village.

Pitch-In Week is nigh!

From April 22 to 27, Pemberton community organizations will be hosting clean-ups of the village to coincide with Earth Week 2025.

Pemberton Rotary Club Karen Tomlinson encouraged residents to come out and join in—adding the act of volunteering is a joy.

“I just like giving back to the community that I live in and seeing if I can make an impact,” she told Pique.

The Rotary Club is kicking off Pitch-In Week early with a clean-up of an adopted section of the highway that runs from the edge of town all the way up to Nairn Falls. Join the Pemberton dispatch of Rotary International from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19.

Then, the week kicks off officially on Tuesday, April 22. The Village of Pemberton (VOP) is hosting a clean-up of The Glen, Pioneer Park and Frontier Street from noon ‘til 1 p.m. Volunteers are asked to meet at municipal hall.

Thursday, April 24 will see We Run Pemberton, a trail-running group assembled by the Pemberton Valley Trails Association, take on a clean-up of the Friendship Trail, starting at 6 p.m. Volunteers are asked to meet downtown.

Saturday, April 26, Stewardship Pemberton is leading a clean-up of One Mile Lake Park from 10 to 11 a.m. as part of its Earth Week programming. Volunteers are asked to meet at the One Mile Lake Nature Centre.

Student-only clean-ups are running on Wednesday and Thursday at L’école de la Vallée and Pemberton Secondary School.

The SLRD is waiving tipping fees at its waste facilities—the Gold Bridge Transfer Station, Lillooet Landfill & Recycling Centre and the Pemberton, Devine and Gold Bridge Transfer Stations—for registered community groups to goose the clean-up efforts.

Volunteering after Pitch-In

Pemberton is full of opportunities to contribute outside of Pitch-In Week, too.

“There's so many not-for-profits in this community that are super active,” said Tomlinson. “There's many opportunities for people to get involved, year-round.”

A list of community organizations in Pemberton is available through Tourism Pemberton’s website.

Not sure which club to join? Tomlinson said Rotary offers the chance to connect with a wide range of Pemberton groups.

“One of the things we try to do is connect with all the other volunteer organizations and not-for-profits [to] do projects with them or support them in projects that they're doing,” she said.

Volunteering isn’t just restricted to adults; Tomlinson listed the Early Act Club that runs at Signal Hill Elementary and the Interact Club at Pemberton Secondary School.

Rotary Pemberton is always seeking new members, said Tomlinson. The club is offering a free membership period until June 30.

Membership and fundraisers help support community projects, as well as a yearly international project. The Rotary Club runs two fundraisers a year.

Their next event is a golf tournament in partnership with the Pemberton & District Chamber of Commerce.

The PSS’ Interact Club is also running two upcoming fundraisers in May. On May 4, they’re running a Hoop-a-thon. Proceeds will go towards Pemberton+Whistler Young Life. Then, on May 20, the club is hosting a Food Bank Breakfast Fundraiser at Town Square Restaurant, where students will make breakfast by donation.
