Service disruptions are expected to two local transit routes the mornings of Feb. 10 to 12.

The incoming Invictus Games, welcoming hundreds of adaptive athletes to Whistler, will impact two local transit routes next week.

In a release this week, BC Transit, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW), and the Village of Pemberton advised customers of service disruptions due to athlete drop-offs at the Gondola Transit Exchange, expected from 8 to 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 through Wednesday, Feb. 12. This will impact Route 6 Tapley’s/Blueberry and the Route 99 Pemberton Commuter.

Invictus athletes, staff and volunteers have access to a free transit pass, courtesy of the RMOW, over the course of the Games, which are scheduled to kick off Saturday, Feb. 8 and run through Sunday, Feb. 16.

The Whistler Sliding Centre will host skeleton on Feb. 10 and 11. Whistler Blackcomb will host alpine skiing and snowboarding events, scheduled to run from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 12. Whistler Olympic Park will host biathlon and Nordic cross-country, scheduled for Feb. 11. Vancouver, meanwhile, will host swimming, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair curling, and wheelchair rugby.

Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily from Feb. 9 to 13, the Whistler Invictus Village will be activated at several locations, featuring family-friendly activities and crafts at the Maury Young Arts Centre, live concerts at Village Square, and partner activations at Mountain Square and Whistler Olympic Plaza.
