Drivers in Whistler urged to keep cars locked after rash of vehicle break-ins

A rash of vehicle break-ins over the holidays have Whistler RCMP reminding drivers to keep their cars locked, and take their valuables with them.

A string of vehicle break-ins in Whistler has the local RCMP reminding drivers to lock their cars and take valuables with them when they park.

According to an RCMP release, on Dec. 25 police were notified of three separate thefts from vehicles.

The first incident was reported at approximately 9:30 a.m. and involved an unlocked vehicle in a covered parkade in the 4300 block of Blackcomb Way. The vehicle's window had been smashed and its contents rummaged through.

The second break-in occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. with a report of a smashed window and theft of some work equipment from a vehicle parked in an underground parking lot in the 4000 block of Whistler Way.

The third incident occurred at approximately 12:48 p.m. when a vacuum was stolen from an unlocked car in the 4300 block of Lorimer Road after its right, front passenger window and the right, back sliding-door window  were smashed.

"The RCMP would like to remind the public to always lock your vehicle, and do not leave any valuable objects inside your vehicle," said Sgt. Rob Knapton in the release.
