Alpine skiers heading to Blackcomb Mountain take note: Glacier Express has a mechanical problem and is currently closed.
In a post from Jan. 22 on Whistler Blackcomb’s (WB) Meta accounts, the resort said the issue is under investigation.
“We are still troubleshooting the mechanical issue and believe it may have something to do with either the gearbox or bullwheel bearing," the update read. "It’s going to take some time to resolve this—we anticipate at least a week, maybe longer.”
The chairlift has been shut down since Sunday, Jan. 19.
WB recommends skiers take 7th Heaven Express to access alpine terrain.
“We know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear and appreciate your patience as our team works hard to get Glacier Express back up and running safely, as quickly as possible," the mountain operator said. "Stay close to our social channels for further updates.”
A spokesperson from Whistler Blackcomb said there is no further information to share at this time.
