% Arabica sets up shop in Whistler

The local grand-opening came with free pastries for the first 50 customers

% Arabica Whistler opened its doors to coffee fanatics Saturday, June 22.

The international Japanese coffee company is making its debut in B.C. in the heart of Whistler Village. The first 50 customers into the futuristic, igloo-esque shop at 4295 Blackcomb Way, Unit 123, received free pastries.

The shop is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the store’s design is modelled after the frozen landscape of Whistler’s mountains. According to the designer, Studio Precht, the space “draws inspiration from the beauty and allure of ice caves.”

The only other Arabica locations in Canada are in Toronto, and according to a press release from the company, Whistler was chosen for its international appeal.

"We're thrilled to introduce % Arabica's distinctive coffee and lifestyle experience to Whistler, a destination renowned for its outdoor activities and appreciation for quality,” said Kenneth Shoji, founder of % Arabica.

“Whistler's breathtaking scenery and international appeal perfectly align with % Arabica's ethos of inviting people to 'See the World Through Coffee.’ We're eager to expand the vibrant culture of this iconic Canadian destination with world-class coffee.”

Founded in 2013 by Shoji, who sought incredible coffee and impeccable service, the company has grown to 188 stores in 24 countries around the world.
