The municipality has announced its final band in the summer 2015 Whistler Presents series of free concerts — and they hope you will Raise a Little Hell when you see them.

Vancouver rockers Trooper will perform a free concert at Whistler Olympic Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

Formed in 1975, Trooper is best known for its Canadian hits. Along with "Raise a Little Hell," there is "We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)" and "The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car."

Jeskova finalist in photo competition

Whistler photographer Justa Jeskova is in the finals of the Banff Mountain Film Festival Photograph Essay Competition, which features heavy-hitting photographers from different backgrounds.

Originally from Slovakia, Jeskova's work has appeared in National Geographic Adventure and Travel Magazines, Bike, Dirt, Dirt Rag, Singletrack, Velo (Czech mountain biking magazine), Freehub, Ski Press, BC Magazine and Whistler Magazine.

Her entry covers a mountain bike trip made to rural Guatemala.

There are five finalists with work depicting snowboarding, mountain climbing, kayaking and travel.

American Chris Burkhard won in 2014.

The public selects the winner. Voting closes on Monday, Aug. 31 at 12 p.m.

The winning essay will receive $3,000 and be displayed at the 2015 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival in October.

Whistler Chorus and Whistler Singers want performers

With September comes a new season for the Whistler Children's Chorus, the resort's choir for youngsters, and Whistler Singers, its adult counterpart.

The highlight of the year for the children's chorus will be a performance of the musical Annie, as well as workshops and festival singing throughout the year.

The first practice is Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. at Millennium Place. Practices will be on Tuesdays.

It costs $80 to join; more information can be found at www.whistlerchorus.org.

For adults wanting to join the Whistler Singers there is no audition, just the desire to sing.

They are starting rehearsals before Labour Day in order to be ready to sing for the UN International Day of Peace on Monday, Sept. 21.

Practices begin on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. and take place on following Wednesdays at Millennium Place.

Cost for participation in the adult choir is to be determined.
