The Whistler Community Arts Council is proud to present the 19th Annual Childrens Art Festival, which will be held Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27 at the Myrtle Philip Community Centre.
The Childrens Art Festival, which is one of the communitys longest running events, consists of hands-on art workshops given to school-aged children by professional artists and crafts people. This year, the following new workshops have been added to the fabulous collection of favourites: papermaking, recycled rockets, fun for purses, theatre games, as well as many more. Most workshops cost $5 each, with the exception of a few that cost more due to increased supply requirements. Workshops run between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and vary from one to three hours in length.
Advanced registration for school-aged children will take place at Myrtle Phillip School on Wednesday, May 16 between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. and then again on Saturday, May 26, starting at 8 a.m.
The popular Pre-School Activity Tent will be set up for children ages 3 to 6 to drop-in and participate in six different workshop activities at their own pace. The cost for the Pre-School Activity Tent is $10 per day per child, with no pre-registration required.
On the Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., children will have the opportunity to enjoy the musical performance of Making Faces, performed by Rick Scott, Shari Ulrich, and Allan Rodger. Whistlers own Youth Moving Chords Showchoir will also perform.
