Comedian (and frequent Whistler visitor) Chelsea Handler celebrated her 48th birthday with an extra-chilly run down Whistler's slopes this week.

The Whistler Writers Festival (WWF) has invited Chelsea Handler to speak in town.

Having authored six straight New York Times bestsellers to date, Handler will read from her latest book, I'll Have What She's Having, on May 5 in an energetic conversation at the Rainbow Theatre. Jeanette Bruce, program and communications coordinator at Whistler Public Library, will moderate.

I'll Have What She's Having is advertised as a collection of intriguing personal stories from Handler's life: whether that's selling vodka-spiked lemonade as a child, "accidentally" going to dinner with four-time Oscar recipient Woody Allen or playing pickleball with "the scions of an American dynasty."

Outside of writing, Handler hosted the late-night talk show Chelsea Lately on the E! network from 2007 to 2014 and has multiple Netflix series on her resume.

"I’m thrilled that Chelsea is coming to Whistler. She’s an inspiration to so many people because of her approach to life and her willingness to share openly and honestly about what matters and the messier aspects of being human," says Rebecca Wood Barrett, WWF artistic director, in a press release. "From her podcast, Dear Chelsea, to her comedy specials on Netflix, Chelsea is someone who people love hearing from and we get to have her here, in person, talking about the many facets of her writing and work. It’s very exciting.

"Chelsea is an inspiration and her writing is smart, insightful, and open. This event is not to be missed."
