Business is booming for Squamish artist Monique Aisbett after she took part in a regional gift show in Vancouver.
Aisbett's new greeting card venture was one of 120 home-based businesses to take part in the 24 th BC Creative Arts Show at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver earlier this month. More than 6,000 buyers from retailers across B.C. attended the show and Aisbett says she got great feedback about her products.
"It was thrilling and scary all rolled into one," she says. "I enjoyed showing my work to a larger audience. The response was so positive and I look forward to the months ahead."
Her ArtBox Cards & Prints company came about as a by-product of her thriving graphic design and illustration firm. Aisbett first began producing postcards featuring inspirational quotations and whimsical illustrations for existing and potential clients. But customers soon started asking if they could buy the cards so she began producing a range of greetings cards.
Now Aisbett has her sights set on the US market - she's already getting ready for the Seattle Gift Show in August.
