A Richmond driver took part in a dramatic rescue of a dog trapped under a moving car on Tuesday evening.
Jeff Rai said he was driving home around 5:30 p.m. on Dayton Avenue – just south of Garden City and Blundell roads – when he noticed a group of people standing around a car in the middle of the road.
Rai, who had the whole thing captured on his dashcam, stopped his car and went over to see what was happening.
When he realized there was a dog, a collie, trapped under the vehicle, he suggested they all lift the car up so the owner could release her pet.
“I was driving back home from taking my dog (Rocky) out for a walk,” Rai told the Richmond News.
“The group and I (including the driver whom was sitting in his car the entire time until Rai arrived) used our strength and lifted the vehicle up enough so that the dog could be pulled out from under it.
“I am unsure of any injuries to the dog, but I am certain that there are some.”
