Two youths arrested in connection to pellet gun assaults

Charges are being recommended by Delta Police

Delta Police have arrested two Tsawwassen youths in connection to a series of pellet gun assaults.

Following the release of information to the media Tuesday afternoon, police were contacted by a community member Tuesday night who assisted police by providing information about the suspects and the suspect vehicle involved in those assaults.

A/Insp. James Sandberg, media spokesperson for the department said as a result of that information, officers were able to locate the car suspected to be involved and arrest a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old male responsible for these assaults.

The pellet gun was also recovered at the time of the arrests.

Sandberg said the suspects have been released on undertakings to appear in court at a later date and turned over to their parents.

Sandberg said investigators are completing their file and will be recommending charges to Crown counsel.

“We’ve had a few calls from residents very concerned for their safety asking us ‘whether it was safe to walk around’,” Sandberg told the Optimist. “It’s a good news story in that we received information from a proactive member of the public that helped us very quickly to make these arrests.”
