Letter: Hospitals need to have TVs for elderly patients

Most seniors are "not savvy" to modern technology and would like a TV during their hospital stay, this Coquitlam letter writer states.

TVs should be included with hospital stays, this Coquitlam letter writer states.

The Editor:

I understand the reasoning behind the removal of TVs in hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, a lengthy stay in a hospital for an elderly person is very boring.

I feel it's also mentally unhealthy as the patient has nothing to occupy their mind with other than their illness.

The reason I refer to the elderly is because most of us are not savvy to modern technology — and most of us do not have tablets.

I feel TVs should be available if a patient wants it, even if they have to pay for it.

I believe it would help everyone concerned.
