BC Cancer Foundation has created a new cancer ribbon for Testicular Cancer Awareness Month.

The Ballsy Ribbon reimagines the traditional cancer ribbon with a unique interpretation that will garner attention and make a statement of support. The pins will be sold exclusively at London Drugs stores across B.C. during the month of April with proceeds benefiting testicular cancer research at BC Cancer.

“Our aim is to increase awareness among young men and promote early detection by encouraging them to do self-checks at home,” said Sarah Roth, president & CEO, BC Cancer Foundation. “We hope the Ballsy Ribbon will become as recognizable and synonymous with testicular cancer as the pink ribbon for breast cancer.”

Testicular cancer typically affects young men ages 16 to 40 and is the most common solid tumour in men this age. While highly treatable when detected early, awareness levels are low and incidence is increasing.

However, BC Cancer is one of the top centres in the world for treatment and outcomes for this disease. With a survival rate of 99.6 per cent with early detection, performing a simple self-check at home can often make a huge difference.

The BC Cancer Foundation is launching this campaign to spread awareness and raise vital funds to advance cancer research that will save more lives for patients in B.C. and beyond.

“The health and wellness of our customers is a core piece of our business,” added Chris Chiew, General Manager of Pharmacy at London Drugs “We are proud to partner with BC Cancer Foundation to raise awareness for Testicular Cancer and how men can take charge of their health.”

Pins can be purchased in-store at London Drugs for $5 and donations can also be made directly online.
